I was feeling a little lazy this evening and couldn’t figure out what I wanted to fix for dinner. We had a few thawed chicken breasts in the fridge so I figured I’d cook them up and make a salad. Then I would have enough to cut up for Dusty tomorrow if she wanted some too.

So I’m cooking them up on the stove and decide that I should have cut them in half because they were just too thick. Raw chicken disgusts me so I didn’t want to do it when I started cooking, but I didn’t want them to dry out and burn either, so I pulled one breast out of the pan, and cut it up into pieces so it’d cook better. I reach in and grab the other breast with my handy dandy tongs, pull it out of the pan and promptly dropped it into the sink.

Luckily the sink was empty and clean.

So I go to grab the breast with my tongs that have failed me and the damn thing slid into the garbage disposal before I was able to grab it!

So that’s the end of my chicken breast. I thought about it for a few minutes. Thought ok.. I could pull that bastard out of the garbage disposal and cut it up and try to forget where it’s been… But I know what the inside of those garbage disposals are like, and they are DISGUSTING. So Flick, I flick the switch on the disposal.. ARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARAR… bye bye chicken. I just kept thinking… Glad it wasn’t a steak.

My wife and I are on a diet.

<– Not to scale

We’ve done this diet thing before, it actually worked and both of us were able to keep a large amount of the weight we lost off for a decent amount of time. We decided to go back on it after the holidays so we could fit comfortably in our clothes.

So far it’s working alright. Both of us have been doing pretty well, she has much better willpower than I do, which is good since she does most of the grocery shopping. And since I’m lazy that means I’m going to eat right also because there’s nothing but healthy crap in our house at the moment and I’m too lazy to go out and get something unhealthy. I guess that’s a good thing, right?

Last night we didn’t have a particularly exciting or filling dinner. it wasn’t bad at all… it just wasn’t very filling or satisfying. That’s the problem with diets, right? They tend to be a little less than satisfying, I mean, what’s more satisfying than a big pile of mashed potato’s with milk gravy and butter (I’m talking food here, nothing dirty, pervs.). I can assure you, cooked zucchini is not.

Anyway, last night we were watching “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” on FoodTV. That was a mistake. It was all about hamburger joints and fried food… about 10 minutes into the show, Mrs. Granson and I are basically ready to devour anything that came in front of us. It was horrible… I was seriously ready to get dressed (I was in my spongebob pants and slippers) and head out into the wind and snow to get anything, all she had to do was say the word… Sadly she resisted the temptation and we just decided to go to bed hungry.

We didn’t even have any Bacon.

Just for the record, I’m typing this while eating a Lemon bar. The wife of one of the guy’s here at work made Lemon Bars for everyone. I couldn’t insult her by not eating one.. so I’m doing it to keep from hurting her feelings. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I feel guilty. I’ll get over it.
